Like any other Bengali, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee performed Kali puja on Thursday. The puja was performed at her residence at the Kalighat area in the southern part of the city after which she also prepared ‘Bhog’.
Attired in cotton saree and her usual slippers, the Trinamool Congress supremoplayed host to scores of guests at the event.
The guests included many VVIPs, cabinet colleagues, politicians and passersby. The doors of Banerjee’s home at Harish Chatterjee Street were thrown open to the public. Keeping in view the large number of visitors thronging Banerjee’s residence, the police had strengthened security arrangements in and around the area. Earlier in the day, the Bengal chief minister had even greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Kali Puja and Diwali. “Heartiest greetings to all on the occasion of Kali Pujo and Deepavali,” Banerjee posted on her official Twitter handle.
