Man duped ofRs 1.50 lakh on pretext of constructing boundary wall around his plot

Raipur: Acting on the directives of court, Civil Lines police have registered a fraud offence against a contractor for allegedly duping the complainant of Rs 1.50 lakh on pretext of constructing boundary wall around his plot. According to police, complainant Sandeep Thaurani of Janata Colony in Rajendra Nagar had entered into a deal with accused contractor Kailash Harchandani of Mahaveer Nagar on April 18, 2017, for constructing boundary wall around his plot in the same locality.

Accordingly, Thaurani paid a total sum of Rs 1.50 lakh to Harchandani by April 29, 2018 in cash and through cheque for getting constructed the boundary wall around his plot. However, Harchandani neither built the boundary wall nor returned the advance money despite repeated reminders. Ultimately, Thaurani filed a civil suit in the court of JMFC Aslam Khan which recently gave a verdict in his favour and asked the police to file a fraud offence against the accused contractor. Accordingly, Civil Lines police on Friday registered an offence under Section 420 IPC against Harchandani and is now investigating the matter further.
