Bucking the trend, the Nifty IT index was the solitary gainer among the sectoral indices on the NSE during Thursday’s morning trade.
The Nifty IT index was trading 0.77 per cent up at 12,758 around 10:30 am (IST).
Shares of MindtreeBSE 1.70 % (up 1.91 per cent), HCL TechnologiesBSE 1.81 % (up 1.83 per cent), KPIT Technologies (up 1.80 per cent), Tata ElxsiBSE 1.73 % (up 1.75 per cent) and Tech MahindraBSE 1.23 % (up 1.24 per cent) were the top gainers in the Nifty IT index.
Shares of Infibeam Incorporation (up 0.72 per cent), InfosysBSE 0.55 % (up 0.68 per cent), WiproBSE 0.41 % (up 0.55 per cent) and Tata Consultancy ServicesBSE 0.16 % (up 0.09 per cent) were also in the green.
Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS) (down 0.44 per cent) was the only component in the IT index that was in the red around that time.
IT stocks have been gaining since Nasscom projected a cautiously positive outlook for the sector.
Benchmark indices were in the negative zone, tracking global cues. Investors were seen cautious ahead of the expiry of February series futures and options contracts later in the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index was 43 points down at 10,354, while the BSE Sensex was 115 points down at 33,730.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.
