MEA shortlists possible matches for deaf & mute girl Geeta; found in Pakistan

At the time, Geeta had received widespread media coverage

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs is making all efforts to get Geeta married.

Geeta, it be known, is a deaf and mute girl who returned to India from Pakistan in 2015.

At the time, Geeta had received widespread media coverage.

It was informed at the time, that Geeta was found alone on board the Samjhauta Express in Lahore when she was seven or eight years old.

She is currently staying in a facility run by Muk-Badhir Sangathan in Indore.

The MEA has thus directed the Indore district authorities to show Geeta the over two dozen marriage proposals that it has forwarded.

The marriage proposals came in for Geeta after a Facebook advertisement seeking a match for her.

It is said that more than 50 men had sent marriage proposals.

Of these, the MEA has found 25 proposals fit for her after scrutiny.

She said the bio-data and pictures of the 25 men will be shown to Geeta.

The Madhya Pradesh government’s social justice department is her caretaker.
