Middlemen in Agusta case extradited to India, taken to court

The much hyped middlemen who is now in India after extradition from UAE, Christian Michel is being taken to a Delhi court.

It need be mentioned that he is said to be an alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland chopper deal and thus was extradited by Dubai.

Brought to New Delhi in a special aircraft late last night, he was taken to the CBI headquarters and it is believed that he was questioned through the night.

India is investigating charges that Michel, a British national, organised bribes to push a Rs 3,600-crore contract for VVIP helicopters to be purchased for top Indian leaders.

The CBI said Michel’s extradition took place “under the guidance” of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Even Prime Minister Modi commented on the extradition of Michel in a poll rally in Rajasthan.

He said that the middleman in the VVIP chopper scam has been nabbed and brought to Delhi.

He added that it will be interesting to see what skeletons come out of the closet of the Congress.

The Enforcement Directorate has accused Michel of receiving 30 million Euros (about Rs. 225 crore) from AgustaWestland as kickbacks.

Michel is one of the three alleged middlemen being examined in the case, along with Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa.
