Minister Santosh Gangwar advises against hyping of ‘one or two rapes’

Amid rape related uproar in the nation, the Union Minister Santosh Gangwar made a rather controversial statement.

The Minister said that one-or-two cases of rape in a country as big as India should not be hyped.

He is quoted to have said, “Such incidents (rape cases) are unfortunate. However, sometimes you can’t stop them. Government is vigilant everywhere, investigations are being conducted. In a nation as big as India, one or two incidents of rape should not be hyped.

It need be mentioned that Rakesh Gangwar is a member of BJP and holds the charge of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment.

This comes in sharp contrast as Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there need not be politics over rapes.

This is not the first time a leader of the ruling party has issued a controversial statement on rapes.
