The anxieties in the case of missing Amritsar boy Amarjit Singh finally came to rest as the boy was traced to his Facebook friend in Pakistan.
The 24-yr-old boy had been part of Sikh religious delegation to Pakistan.
While the security forces kept up a search, it later emerged that Singh was enjoying the hospitality of his Facebook friend.
Sources revealed that Amarjit Singh had befriended Sheikhupura resident Ameer Razak over Facebook.
When he reached the neighboring country on April 12, he called Razak over phone and it was decided between them that Amarjit would stay at friend’s place. Shekhupura is a city in the Pakistani province of Punjab.
Sources further informed that Amarjit lied to Razak that he had three-month visa whereas his visa expiry date was April 21.
Amarjit spent three days at Razak’s house enjoying family’s hospitality.
But as the news of the boy went missing appeared in newspapers, the friend Razak read about it and alerted the Pakistan Evacuee Trust Property Board officials who took Amarjit in custody.
A resident of Niranjanpura village near Amritsar, Amarjit Singh had gone to Pakistan along with Sikh jatha on April 12 to celebrate Baisakhi.
Sources informed that according to ETPB records, Amarjit had left from Nankana Sahib to Lahore from where he went to Sheikhupura, about 40 kms to meet his Facebook friend Razak.>
