In Bhilai to inaugurate crucial projects, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed a public meeting at the local Jayanti Stadium.
While noting that He said that Chhattisgarh has welcomed him with open heart, Modi said that Bhilai did not only make steel but also lives and society and the country.
He added that the new modern steel plant will now help develop new India.
During the same event, Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the permanent campus of IIT Bhilai.
He also unveiled a plaque to mark the commencement of phase-2 of BharatNet, which envisages connecting Gram Panchayats with underground optical fibre network.
Speaking on financial inclusion initiatives, Modi said that the bank accounts of lakhs of people have been opened in Chhattisgarh and that lakhs of toilets have also been constructed in the state.

Modi noted that earlier where there were no roads, now even airports are being constructed along with roads.
Hinting at widespread naxal violence in the Chhattisgarh, Modi said that solution to every problem is development.
Recalling his connectivity with the state, Modi said that he has visited almost all districts of the state.
He announced development projects of approximately Rs 22,000 crore to the people of the state, which will bring in progress in Chhattisgarh.
Invoking former Prime Minister Atalji, who is now under treatment at the AIIMS, PM Modi said that such initiatives only take vision of the Vajpayee forward.
