It is yet another dastardly attack by the Taliban fighters which claimed 30 Afghan soldiers.
The incident is of western Badghis province, as confirmed by the sources.
It was informed that the fighters first attacked the checkpoints and then ambushed reinforcements as they arrived in Bala Murghab district.
The local officials states that the Taliban moved in large numbers and ruthlessly struck the army positions.
He said the attack started Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday morning.
There were casualties among the insurgents but the extent of the damage is not known.
In another of the attack on a local police check point, at least one person got killed while four others got injured.
The Taliban had observed a cease-fire over the three-day Eid al-Fitr holiday last weekend but rejected the government’s request for an extension.>
