Even as the Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has been under opposition fire on the issue of 39 Indians killed in Iraq at the hands of Islamic State, the Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh said that he is leaving for Iraq on Sunday morning.
MoS VK Singh said that he is to oversee bringing back the mortal remains of 39 slain Indians.
Also a former Army chief, Singh said that the families of the deceased have been informed about how the mortal remains would be handed over to them.
It is now known that MoS Singh will return to Amritsar and then to Kolkata and Patna.
Singh would leave for Baghdad in a special C-17 plane.
The Minister of State is in all likelihood expected to return with the mortal remains of Indians by late Monday night or Tuesday morning.>
