Surguja Member of Parliament Kamalbhan Singh insisted on the need to maintain hygiene and sanitation and its role in the human life.

He appealed for people to ensure cleanliness around residential areas and adopt hygiene measures.

He was speaking at the Swacchata Divas organized in mini stadium of gram panchayat Puhputra within Lakhanpur Janpad panchayat in Surguja.

Besides him, the top BJP leaders of the area and administrative officials were also present on the occasion.

The elected representatives and officials urged the masses to adopt cleanliness and sanitation measures in their life compulsorily.

Human Chains and Swacchata Rallies were also organized on the occasion.

The people who had contributed in furthering the sanitation and cleanliness agenda were also felicitated on the occasion.

Incharge Collector Namrata Gandhi urged the people to maintain cleanliness and use toilets regularly.

She said that open defecation not only pollutes the environment but also helps in spread of diseases.

The people present on the occasion were administrated oath that they would not defecate in the open and that they would also discourage others from doing so.

It was said that people of the area need to strive together to make the area open defecation free.

Even the topics of solid and liquid waste management were deliberated on the occasion.
