The city of Mumbai is witnessing moderate to heavy rainfall since the wee hours today and officials at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) have said that the monsoon in the city is likely to gather pace.
The city and the suburbs are likely to witness spells of rain and thundershowers in the coming days.
An IMD official said that a few spells of rain or thundershowers is likely in the city and suburbs. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be 33 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius.
Total rainfall recorded so far since June 1 by the IMD Colaba observatory is 250.9 mm, while the Santa Cruz observatory recorded 236.3 mm of rainfall. Weathermen have predicted heavy to very heavy rain for the Konkan coast, including Mumbai, for the next 48 hours.
