Police sources said that the girls had poor results in the mid-term exams whose results were declared on Friday itself.

While the police initiated a massive search ops, they managed to spot the four girls at the Kurla railway station.

Police confirmed that the fifth girl returned on her own to her home.

The girls told the police that they first went to the Marine Drive in South Mumbai then to the Hanging Garden and later to Thane before returning to the city.

Police also said that the girls not carrying a mobile phone made the search harder.
