On expected lines, the former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his political heir Maryam Nawaz have been arrested as soon as their flight landed in Lahore.
The flight with former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his political heir Maryam Nawaz landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, three hours delayed.
The two leaders face imminent arrest and the city of Lahore is said to be in a lockdown.
The two leaders came back from London knowing that they would be arrested.
This comes a week after they were convicted in a corruption case.
The Etihad Airways flight EY243 arrived here from Abu Dhabi.
Earlier they flew to the UAE capital from London, where Sharif’s ailing wife is hospitalised.
The anti-corruption court NAB in Pakistan sentenced the country’s ousted prime minister Sharif to 10 years in prison in the Avenfield corruption case for owning assets beyond income and evading the court for 1 year.
Also his daughter Maryam Sharif was also given 7 years in prison for abetment (submitting false papers in the court) and non-cooperation.
It is said that there is a chopper on the standby to take the two leaders to Islamabad, capital of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the PML-N supporters arrive with a crane to remove blockades enroute airport.
There is also some reports suggesting that violet protests have broken out in certain parts of Lahore.
