The naxal menace is showing no signs of slowing down in Chhattisgarh, which is one of the worst affected states of the country.
In the latest case, red rebels are thought to be behind the killing of a villager within Kuakonda police station limits.
Police sources alleged that the naxals killed the rural as they suspected him to be a police informer.
This comes as more than 37 of the Maoist rebels had been killed in Gadchiroli in Maharashtra, close to Chhattisgarh border.
It is possible that the naxals may have begun their retaliatory actions and this may be part of that strategy.
Police sources claimed that naxals had come about last night in Gadmiri village and they dragged a youth from his house to village ration shop.
The commotion forced the villagers to gather who then pleaded for the rural to be spared but the naxals killed him nonetheless.
The naxals also threw pamphlets at the spot before fleeing the spot.
It is now said that the Katekalyan Area Committee has taken responsibility for the killing of this youth.>
