As all educational institutes have been shut down amid the nationwide covic-19 lockdown, CBSE and NCERT have taken certain measures to ensure that the students are comfortable with their course and syllabus once the schools reopen. CBSE has decided to rationalise the syllabus for classes 9 to 12 for this academic year while NCERT has decided to release a revised activities calendar for classes 1 to 8 this year.
This is being done so that students can receive high quality education and catch up on their academics easily from the comfort of their homes.
The new activities calendar has been prepared for four weeks, scheduled according to the extended lockdown period. Though if the coronavirus outbreak is not contained and the nationwide situation doesn’t get better, NCERT will make more changes to the calendar to cater to the need of the students.
Not every teacher and student has unlimited access to the internet and a virtual classroom and so NCERT has come up with several activities that don’t require virtual connectivity. Many activities can be conducted by the parents and students on their own while being connected with the teacher on the phone.
The calendar is designed to contain several chapters from the students’ syllabus so that they can catch up on their course as well. The main purpose of this change is to keep the students engaged and motivated amid the lockdown. It is also to ensure that students are being productive and are not losing out academically.
