police claims that the march then turned violent which is why they had to resort to the lathicharge and water canons

After reports of woman journalist manhandled by police during the JNU protest march, the National Commission for Women has ordered a probe.

It need be known that the JNU students and teachers were stopped from marching to the Parliament as part of protest on various issues.

The police claims that the march then turned violent which is why they had to resort to the lathicharge and water canons.

The protesting students on the other hand claimed that the attack by the police was totally unprovoked.

The “Padyatra”, which started at the varsity’s campus, was organised by the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) and the Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers’ Association (JNUTA).

A video of police thrashing a female photographer even as she kept telling them that she was from the media also went viral on the social media.
