As many as 39 stocks, including Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar, Gitanjali GemsBSE -4.87 %, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Punjab National Bank hit fresh 52-week lows on the NSE on Tuesday.
Shares of Rohit Ferro-Tech, Sterling Biotech, Supreme Infrastructure India, Supreme Tex Mart, Uttam Galva Steels and Value Industries also touched their new 52-week lows on the NSE.
On the other hand, 16 stocks including Britannia Industries, JSW Steel and Cholamandalam Investment and Finance CompanyBSE 1.66 % hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE on Tuesday.
The Nifty50 and Sensex closed Tuesday’s session in the negative territory, dragged by sustained selling in PSU bank, financial and metal stocks.
Nifty50 closed 28 points, or 0.27 per cent, down at 10,554, while the 30-share Sensex settled 99 points, or 0.29 per cent, down at 34,346 on Tuesday.
Among the 50 stocks in Nifty50 index, 23 closed the day in the green, while 27 stocks in the red.
Shares of Dr Reddy’s Labs, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Hero MotoCorp, Reliance IndustriesBSE 1.21 %, Infosys and Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Auto and UltraTech Cement were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.
However, Ambuja Cements, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, Sun PharmaBSE -2.02 %, Coal India, Zee Entertainment and ICICI Bank stood among the top losers of the day.
Among the sectors, barring FMCG and IT, all other closed the day in the red on NSE.>
