Nepal police nabs couple; for slaughtering cow

Even as cow protection has evolved into a major issue in India, neighboring Nepal has arrested a couple alleged to have slaughtered a cow.

It need be mentioned that cow is considered holy even in Nepal which is a Hindu majority nation.

The couple have been identified as Durgaman Tamang (33) and wife Dil Maya Tamang (28),and were arrested in Lamjung district of western Nepal Wednesday.

Police sources said that there might be another man involved but he is reported to be absconding as of now.

Police also claimed to have confiscated weapons used in slaughtering the cow.

Police said the couple has been remanded to police custody for 10 days for investigation. A case has been filed at the district court against the couple.

Cow, it need be mentioned, was declared the national animal of Nepal in 2015 in the country’s secular Constitution.
