New variety of groundnut developed by agro-scientists

A new variety of groundnut that can be grown in summers has been developed by agro-scientists of the Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture Technology University (CSA), Kanpur.

CSA scientist, Jitendra Singh said the new variety of groundnut could be harvested just three months after it is sown.

He said, the summer variety is disease-free as pests cannot attack the crop because of high temperature in the atmosphere.

Mr Singh claimed that with an investment of 30,000 rupees per hectare, a grower can earn up to 75,000 rupees.
