The top anti-terror probe agency National Investigation Agency (NIA) has now arrested Syed Shahid Yusuf, the son of Syed Salahuddin. It need be mentioned that Syed Salahuddin head terror group Hizbul Mujahideen.

Shahid Yusuf, who works in the Jammu and Kashmir government’s agriculture department, has been arrested in a terror funding case of 2011.

He is accused of receiving money from Syria on the directions of Salahuddin, for the purpose of funding terror in Kashmir. The money was sent in four instalments between 2011 and 2014, according to the police.

Four men accused in the case are in Delhi’s Tihar jail while two are missing. The NIA revived the investigations into the case recently and believes it has evidence against Yusuf including phone call records.

Yusuf works as village agriculture extension assistant in the state government and has a family home in Budgam. He was arrested soon after he responded to a summons from the agency.

Yusuf’s arrest comes a day after the central government announced a new interlocutor, former Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma, for a “sustained dialogue” with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir.
