NTPC Business Excellence Awards 2018-19 were presented at IPS-2019 International O&M Conference on 14th Feb 2019 at Raipur today. This year 21 generating stations were assessed on NTPC Business Excellence Model.
The awards were presented by Shri Saptarshi Roy, Director (HR & Finance) ,Shri Prakash Tiwari, Director (Operations) and Shri P.K.Mohapatra,Director (Technical). The awards were recevied by the BUH of the respective stations along with the Regional Executive Directors.
While NTPC Vindhyachal received the First position, NTPC Rihand & NTPC Sipat were awarded jointly for the Second Position, NTPC Faridabad for Third Position and NTPC Singrauli received Encouragement Award for highest Delta Improvement.
Meanwhile, 82 Papers including 11 international papers were presented in parallel sessions each with a theme relating to the existing issues in the power plant or the new technologies being introduced in the Power sector.
On day one on 13th Feb 2019, in addition to theme session, various sessions were on Flexibilisation and challenges in power system, Safety & Environment Management, Steam Turbine, Steam Generator & Auxiliaries, Electrical Systems, Control & Instrumentation, Innovative Operation Practices.
On 14th Feb 2019 sessions on Efficiency & Energy Conservation, Renewable Energy & Asset Management, Hydro Generation, Chemistry, Fuel & Ash Management, Cooling Tower & Water Management were organized.
EPRI USA presented paper on Turbine Generator torsional vibration fundamentals. Bentley USA described the digitalization of brownfield stations. Intertek USA shared about flexible operation and real time prediction of its effect. JCOAL Japan presented paper on Water treatment and reutilization as well as Bio mass Utilization for air quality improvement. Paper on Sediment management in hydro power reservoir was presented by CEA.
The knowledge assimilated through the presentation of the research papers is put into practice in the form of implementation of recommendations from the conference.
