Officer hurt in Flint airport attack, condition improving

Flint — An officer was reportedly stabbed and listed in critical condition after an apparent attack Wednesday at Bishop International Airport.

According to the airport’s Facebook page, the FBI is leading the investigation into the incident. The airport police officer was originally listed in critical condition but now is listed in stable condition, airport authorities said.

Airport officials also said in the post the suspect involved in the incident is in custody and is being questioned. The FBI said it is working to determine the suspect’s motive.

“The FBI, with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, is jointly investigating this incident to determine the nature and motive for the attack,” it said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. “We are aware of reports that the attacker made statements immediately prior to or while attacking the officer, but it is too early to determine the nature of these alleged statements or whether or not this was an act of terrorism.

“Based on the information that we have at this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident. We currently have no specific, credible information that there is a threat to the Flint community.”
