On forest dwellers, state govt insists on proper hearing of case

State Government has decided that applicants should be given another chance to put forward his case for a proper hearing before their expulsion.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the state level monitoring committee held today chaired by Chief Secretary Shri S.R. Mohanty.

The committee has taken this decision in this perspective that in cases of cancellation, not enough opportunity was given to the applicant for a legal hearing.

The committee has also given instructions to the district collectors to complete the proceedings in these cases by June 30, 2019 and submit the actual status before the committee.

It has also been decided that regular review of the action taken on the above decision of the committee in relation to the canceled cases will also be made by sending team from the state level.

It may be noted that the State -Level Monitoring Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary under Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act.
