On Women’s Day; Railways to have all-woman ticket staff on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Exp
Celebrations on International Women’s Day is customary but lately the women empowerment has gladly seeped into many of the institutions.
It is as part of this effort that the Western Railways has decided to have an all-woman ticket checking staff in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express from March 8.
It need be mentioned that the Railways had earlier deployed an all-woman TTE staff on the same train on trial basis and observed a 66 per cent jump in the earnings in a single day.
This was confirmed by the Western Railways, which initiated the pilot project.
At least six female TTE will board the Shatabdi Express each day and return the same day.
Railway sources said that if the deployment proves to be useful then it will be implemented in other trains as well.
Currently, of the six TTEs on the Shatabdi Express, only two are women.>
