Raipur: Khamtarai police on Monday arrested a youth from Rameshwar Nagar of Bhanpuri and recovered from him two mobile phones which he along with two other accomplices had robbed from separate persons during last one month. While his second accomplice is presently lodged in Bemetara jail for robbery committed there, the final accomplice is still at large.
According to police, repeated instances of mobile phone snatchings by three bike-borne robbers under jurisdiction of Khamtarai police station made police launch a concentric effort to nab them. Efforts made by police paid result on Monday when it succeeded in identifying one of the three robbers with the help of obtained CCTV recordings and the local information network.
Following confirmation about the involvement of the suspect, police picked him up for interrogation on Monday morning and brought him to police station. As expected, the suspect denied any role in mobile phone snatching but when he was produced the CCTV recording showing registration number of his Honda Activa bike involved in the latest robbery, he had no other option but to confess his crime.
Identified as Bharat Verma, the accused soon told police about both his accomplices Vikas Yadav and Siddharth Tiwari. He also told police that Vikas is presently lodged in Bemetara jail for a robbery they had committed there. Police then reached to Siddharth’s residence to arrest him but he had already fled after coming to know about Bharat’s arresting. Police is now launched a hunt for to nab him.
