Day after the Supreme Court rejected the demand for independent probe into the death of Judge Loya, the opposition parties are now expected to meet Rajya Sabha chairman Vankaiah Naidu.
The opposition parties would be most probably seeking impeachment of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
A notice has been signed by 60 lawmakers, it was informed by the opposition sources.
It need be recalled that campaign in this regard had been ongoing since January of this year and several opposition parties have been pushing for impeachment of Justice Misra.
It is said that the idea was proposed by the Left Front days after four topmost judges of the Supreme Court went public with the allegation that the Chief Justice was abusing his position as “master of the roster”.
It is also being said that the Trinamool Congress, DMK, Samajwadi Party, Mayawati’s BSP and Lalu Yadav’s RJD are against the impeachment.
Even the Congress is said to be divided on the issue.
But with the verdict on probe in death of Judge Loya, even the Congress has signalled its disappointment.>
