Amid the crisis brewing between India and Pakistan, the opposition parties came together today to laud action taken by the Indian Air Force against Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist camp in Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It emerged that political leaders of the 21 political parties praised the Armed Forces for their valour and bravery.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Congress president Rahul Gandhi slammed Pakistan for its misadventures and expressed their deep concern for the safety of the missing pilot.
Rahul Gandhi further urged the Centre to take the nation into confidence on all measures to protect India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity.
During the meeting, all the 21 parties expressed concerns over the blatant politicization of the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces by leaders of the ruling party and observed that national security must transcend narrow political considerations.
The political parties also questioned PM Narendra Modi for not convening an-all party meetings.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that after India conducted counter-terrorism operation against a terrorist training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in Pakistan’ Balakot, Islamabad responded by using its air force to target military installations on the Indian side.
