Over 60 naxals surrender in Chhattisgarh; major breakthrough

Yet another major success for the security forces battling naxalism in Chhattisgarh as more than 60 rebels have so far surrendered.

The naxals are said to have been active in the Abhujhmad area of Narainpur district of the state.

These rebels have also been part of many subversive activities and crimes.

Police sources claimed that amongst those who have surrendered includes 40 male and remaining women cadres.

The surrender took place in front of IG Vivekanand Sinha and DIG Ratanlal Dangi.

Superintendent of Police and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.

The naxals also brought about the muzzle guns with them as they surrendered.

The surrendered rebels alleged that they were desperate to leave the rebellion and ha been facing harassment.

The police officers have in the meantime assured that they will be accorded all benefits under the rehabilitation policy of the state.
