Over two lakh underprivileged women associated with Livelihood Mission

Till March month this year, nearly two lakh 55 thousand poor women have been associated with National Urban Livelihood Mission through more than 22 thousand self-help groups

More than Rs 26.66 crore has been distributed as loans to three thousand 818 women self-help groups in urban areas of Chhattisgarh, under Deendayal Antyoday Yojana- National Urban Livelihood Mission.

Till March month this year, nearly two lakh 55 thousand poor women have been associated with National Urban Livelihood Mission through more than 22 thousand self-help groups.

Officials of State Urban Development Authority informed today that under the mission, women self-help groups are provided business loan of up to Rs 10 lakh and individuals are provided loans of up to Rs two lakh at the interest rate of 7%, instead of the existent interest rate.

He informed that till date, interest subsidy of Rs 2.06 crore has been provided to beneficiaries. Under the scheme, 13 thousand 387 women groups have been provided recurring fund of Rs 13 crore 59 lakh.

Women groups who timely pay installments and interest are provided additional interest subsidy of three per cent. Individual entrepreneurs are also provided credit card facility.

Under National Urban Livelihood Mission, group of 10-20 women is formed, later regional-level group of 10-20 women is formed and thereafter, a city-level organization of 10-20 women is formed.

These organizations are provided assistance in bank linkage, training, marketing, loan evaluation, beneficiary identification, participating and group formation.

Till date, 291 regional-level and 28 city-level organizations have been formed and Rs 89 lakh has been distributed to 178 organizations, while 28 city livelihood centres are functioning in state.

Women of Chhattisgarh are constantly making efforts to improve their means of livelihoods through social empowerment. It is the result of significant work under Livelihood Mission that regional-level association Ujala formed by women of urban areas in Raigarh districts has been given Cleanliness Excellence Award 2017-18 by Government of India.

Muskan Self-Help Group of Durg district has received ‘Scotch Award’ for significant work in the field of cleanliness.

Officials informed that special project Sangwari is being implemented for skill improvement and economic empowerment of urban, poor working women, under the mission.

Presently, 398 domestic working women have been provided training in Raipur Municipal Corporation jurisdiction. 282 women out of these have been provided placement in various places.
