Padmavat film release; Gujarat, Rajastha most affected with protests, vandalism!!
Protests continued in many states today as part of opposition to the release of the controversial film Padmavat.
Protestors, it is said, were able to torch at least 30 motorcycles in Ahmedabad and damaged several other vehicles parked outside three city malls.
It need be mentioned that Karni Sena had been protesting the film release even though the Supreme Court had clearly stated that film should be allowed to release nationwide and the states would provide security where ever needed.
It would also need to be mentioned that theatre owners in Gujarat have already announced that they would not screen the film following the violence outside three multiplexes in the city yesterday.
While the state government said most Rajput groups in Gujarat have agreed not to join the nationwide bandh (general strike), a large number of police personnel along with paramilitary forces have been deployed across the state.
Over 20,000 policemen as well as paramilitary personnel have been deployed across the state, he said.
Sixteen companies of paramilitary forces, such as BSF and Rapid Action Force (RAF), have been provided by the Central government.>
