Padmavat release tomorrow; security beefed up in states amid violent protests
Even as all stops have been withdrawn from release of film Padmavat, the protests are not dying down and infact more protestors resorted to vandalism and damaging the public property yesterday in Gujarat.
This even as the top court clarified that law and order is the responsibility of the state and that film release and requisite security must be extended by states.
As a precautionary measure, Karni Sena chief was arrested by the police last night after the unit announced that many of the women from the community would commit jauhar (mass immolation) over the release of Padmavat.
Again, Delhi-Jaipur highway has been blocked by protesters and according to the reports, even the Gurgaon Wazirpur-Pataudi road stands blocked till the reports last came in.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in several states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
This after the Supreme Court Tuesday rejected petitions by the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, which sought to review the court’s earlier order resulting in lifting of ban on the film.
