Pak claims ‘metallic object’ traced in Kulbhushan’s wife’s shoes; sent it for forensic probe

Pakistan claims to have sent in the shoes worn by wife of Indian retired naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav for forensic examination.

Sources informed that the this would be to ascertain the nature of the suspected presence of a foreign object in the shoes.

Pakistan claimed that they had found a metallic object in the shoes of the wife and could easily be a camera or a recording chip.

Jadhav’s wife’s shoes were kept for inspection, while all other belongings, including jewellery, were returned, Pakistan foreign office spokesperson Faisal said and went to the extent of claiming that she was provided with an alternative pair of shoes to wear after her shoes were removed.

The external affairs ministry said in a statement yesterday that Pakistan went so far as to have the mangal sutra, bangles and bindi of Jadhav’s mother and wife removed before they could meet him.

India also accused Pakistan of disregarding cultural and religious sensibilities of family members under the pretext of security.
