With the new government in place in Pakistan, its priorities are now increasingly getting clear.
This after the in Pakistan’s Punjab state, the new information minister Fayaz-ul-Hasan Chohan has announced a ban on “vulgar” movie billboards.
The law will be applicable in the Pakistani province.
But the decision has angered many who fear that this is out of the growing influence of hardliners under new Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Minister Chohan, it need be recalled, has also stirred hornet’s nest by making a visit to the grave of a man sentenced to death for killing the governor of Punjab in 2011.
Minister Khan’s election victory in July was helped by strong support from Islamist parties.
Minister Chohan joined Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Justice Movement from the Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan party.>
