Defence Minister Rajnath Singh,found support from one unexpected corners of the world, on his gesture to perform ‘Shastra puja’ of the first Rafale fighters. Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor took to Twitter and said that there was nothing wrong in performing the puja as is ‘goes by the religion’.
“Nothing wrong in Rafale Puja as it goes by the religion and that must be respected. Please, remember it’s not the machine alone which matters but competence,passion & resolve of the men handling that machine.Proud of our PAF Shaheens,” tweeted Asif Ghafoor, Director-General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations, the publicity wing of Pakistan Army.
While taking the delivery of the first Rafale fighter jet in France, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had performed a ‘Shastra puja’ of the fighter jet. The act was criticized by the Congress party. While Sandeep Dikshit called it “saffronisation”, Mallikarjun Kharge called it a “tamasha”.
On returning to New Delhi, Singh justified his decision to perform the puja and said, “I did what I thought was appropriate. This is our faith, that there is a superpower and I have believed it since childhood. I feel there must have been a division over the issue in the Congress too, it must not have been everybody’s opinion.”
