In a major international incident, the Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah is reported to have survived an assassination attempt as he travelled in northern Gaza on Tuesday morning.

The Palestinian news agency said that Prime Minister Hamdallah was making a short trip to the coastal enclave to mark the opening of a new water treatment facility.

He had just passed through the Erez border crossing from Israel when a bomb detonated near his convoy.

The bomb teared the siding off at least one black SUV and blowing out the car’s windows.

It was informed that though none was injured in the attack, it needs to be mentioned that Palestinian Authority Minister of Intelligence Majid Faraj was also in the convoy.

The Palestinian Authority blame the Islamist movement in Gaza for the attack.

The attack was condemned by the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov.
