Pankaj Saran, India’s ambassador to Russia; appointed Deputy NSA

It is said that the appointment would help India’s NSA Ajit Doval who would have two deputies

In a major development, the India’s ambassador to Russia Pankaj Saran was appointed as the deputy National Security Advisor (NSA).

It is said that the appointment would help India’s NSA Ajit Doval who would have two deputies.

Alongside Saran, there is also the former chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Rajinder Khanna to assist Doval.

The 1982 batch officer of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) was in November 2015 appointed as India’s envoy to Russia.

He is married to Preeti Saran, secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs

It is said about Saran, that he may not be a media personality but is one of the sharpest minds in the Indian Foreign Services.
