Pant to sport Indian blues, Wriddhiman lost berth

New Delhi.

Rishabh Pant has received a maiden call-up to the India Test squad with Dinesh Karthik also featuring in the line-up as a wicketkeeper in the 18-man India squad for the first three Tests against England.

Jasprit Bumrah, who is recovering from a broken thumb, has been named in the squad but will be available for selection only from the second Test subject to fitness, stated a BCCI release on Wednesday (July 18).

Meanwhile, a call on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s inclusion in the Test squad will be taken after he is assessed by the BCCI medical team. Bhuvneshwar aggravated a lower back condition during the third ODI against England in Leeds.

Wriddhiman Saha has failed to recover in time and doesn’t make the test squad as Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant have been named as the two keepers while Hardik Pandya is the sole seam bowling all-rounder.
