In yet another major case of suspected negligence, at least five of the patients who had undergone eye-surgery have complained of lost eyesight.
The revelation has jolted the administration and the health infrastructure of the state of Chhattisgarh.
It is learnt so far that all of the patients who have suffered are of Raipur itself.
The patients had undergone operation in All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS.
The patients have now been referred to MGM eye hospital for treatment and medical care.
It is said that the five patients had undergone eye operation on April 5 itself.
Meanwhile politics may also heat up on the issue as this is not the first time that medical negligence has resulted in pain and loss to the patients of Chhattisgarh.
Raipur Congress leader Vikas Upadhyay has alleged that hospital administration could have made lapses when it came to treatment of these patients.>
