Perturbed at Cong attack; BJP fields Nirmala Sitharaman on PNB scam issue
Perturbed at the offensive of the Congress on the Rs 11000 crores bank fraud in the Punjab National Bank and subsequent escape of businessman Nirav Modi, the ruling BJP tried to put in its own narrative today.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asked the Congress to explain why Allahabad Bank official Dinesh Dubey was forced to quit.
It need be mentioned that Dinesh Dubey, a former director of the Allahabad Bank, had yesterday claimed that the Congress-led UPA could have stopped the scam from taking place.
He said that he had flagged way back in 2013, the concerns about loans to Gitanjali Gems.
It need be mentioned that Gitanjali Gems is one of the companies being investigated by the CBI in the Punjab National Bank fraud case.
Sitharaman launched counter-attack on the Congress saying that the then Congress-led government didn’t do what was required.
She said that this government is doing what needs to be done.
