Petition challenging clean chit to Modi rejected

The Gujarat High Court has rejected a petition challenging clean chit given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was then a Chief Minister of state, in the infamous Gulbarga society riot case. The petition had been filed by Zakia Jaffery, widow of former Congress Parliamentarian Ahsan Jaffery. In the petition, Zakia had urged that Modi along with few others be included as accused in the larger criminal conspiracy that was unleashed. The Gulbarga Society riots had been carried out on February 27, 2002.
