Petition filed in top court demanding probe in Sukma encounter

Many of the activists have begun pointing fingers at the manner in which this encounter took place

As the security forces carried out attack on naxal forte in restive Sukma district of Chhattisgarh and claimed 15 of the insurgents, there is a controversy now broken out.

Many of the activists have begun pointing fingers at the manner in which this encounter took place.

There are even allegations that some of those killed in the name of wiping out naxals were minors and that many of them were innocent farmers rather than being engaged in insurgency.

The encounter took place on August 6 close to Nalkatung village in Sukma district.

It is in this context that an activist of the Civil Liberty Committee has now approached the top court of the country.

The matter will be heard by the Supreme Court Chief Justice headed bench on August 13.

The petition demands that the encounter be probed by either Central Bureau of Investigation or a Special Investigation Team.
