Plane crashes into Mumbai suburb, fire engines rushed to spot

There is also apprehension that as many as five may have been killed in the mishap

In a major mishap, a chartered plane crashed in a thickly populated suburb of Mumbai.

While one person is feared to be dead in the mishap, the plane is said to be belonging to Uttar Pradsh government.

Preliminary information indicates that the plane was about to land when it crashed near Sarvoday Nagar in Ghatkopar.

There is also apprehension that as many as five may have been killed in the mishap.

The images as beemed by certain news agencies show flames and thick, black smoke rising from the debris.

It is now known that the plane was a Beechcraft King Air C90 turboprop.

The news made the administration rush many of the fire engines to the spot to douse the fire and prevent its spread.

It is not clear as to who all were travelling in the plane and whether the air traffic control had some whiff of what wrong went with the plane.
