PM Modi inaugurates Delhi Metro Magenta line; heres what happened
The much awaited Delhi Metro Magenta line was inaugurated today at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Modi also took a ride on new service that connects the capital with neighbouring Noida.
PM Modi flagged off the new metro that had been decked with marigold flowers from Noida and travelled to the Okhla Bird Sanctuary station with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The inauguration was however not devoid of politics as the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was missing from the event pending an invitation.
Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party accusing the centre of excluding Mr Kejriwal over “cheap politics”. The 12.6-km section of the Magenta Line opened today connects south Delhi’s Kalkaji and Noida’s Botanical Garden.
However, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal himself refused to be drawn to the politics of it and wished Merry Christmas before walking past.
It need be mentioned that the Magenta Line is the third metro line to be inaugurated by PM Modi in 2017. He had earlier dedicated the Kochi Metro to the nation in June, and the Hyderabad Metro in November. >
