PM Modi leaves for Portugal on the first leg of his 3-nation tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today embarked on a three nation visit. In the first leg of his tour, he will reach Portuguese capital, Lisbon, this afternoon.
The Prime Minister has said that, during his visit to Portugal both countries will discuss ways to further enhance the bilateral engagement in the areas of economic cooperation, science & technology, space collaboration and people to people ties. Modi Yesterday in Facebook post also said that the two nation will deliberate on means to intensify their cooperation in counter-terrorism and on other international issues of mutual interest. He also said that he looking a significant potential for deepening bilateral trade and investment ties between the two countries.
The Prime Minister said, India-Portugal close historical and friendly ties of have picked up momentum after Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa’s visit to India in January this year. Modi said, he is looking forward to his meeting with PM Costa. He said building on our recent discussions, both leaders will review the progress of various joint initiatives and decisions.
Modi said, He is keen to interact with the Indian Community in Portugal during the visit.
After Portugal, The Prime Minister will depart for the US capital, Washington DC. Modi in the post said, He is looking forward to this opportunity to have an in depth exchange of views on further consolidating the robust and wide ranging partnership between India and the United States.
During his two day US visit, the Prime Minister will meet its President, Donald Trump. This will be the first meeting between the two leaders.
Modi will also interact with the Indian diaspora in the United States.
In the last leg of his tour, Modi will visit The Netherlands on Tuesday for bilateral talks with his counterpart, Mark Rutte.
The Prime Minister said both countries are celebrating 70 years of the establishment of Indo-Dutch diplomatic relations this year. He said economic engagement of both counties is a win-win proposition as the Netherlands is 6th largest trading partner of India in the EU and 5th largest investment partner globally. Modi said people to people relations between the two countries are strong with the presence of second largest Indian Diaspora in Europe in the Netherlands. The Prime Minister said, he is looking forward to engaging with the Indian community in the Netherlands.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to return home on Wednesday morning concluding his four day tour.
