In yet another gruesome crime that rape is, a person has been arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police for allegedly raping and killing a six-month-old girl in Indore.
Police said that they have recovered the blood-soaked body of the infant from the basement of a commercial building in Rajwada area.
The accused has been identified as 21-yr-old Sunil Bheel and claim to have traced him to the crime through the CCTV footage where in he is seen carrying the baby.
The post-mortem of the dead infant suggests that she might have been raped before being killed as her private parts bore an injury mark.
The incident may have occurred late on Friday morning as the accused kidnapped the infant earlier that day.
It has also emerged that the accused was known to the victim’s family as they were in the business together.
It is not yet clear how the baby died, police said.
The incident comes when the Centre is in the process to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act), 2012.
The amendment would award death sentence for the culprits of those who rape children below 12 yrs of age.>
