Under criticism after a journalist was mowed down to death by a truck in Bhind region of Madhya Pradesh, the state police announced of having nabbed truck driver involved in the case.
It need be mentioned that journalist Sandeep Sharma, working for a national TV news channel, had earlier approached the police claiming there was an immediate threat to his life and he had accused a police officer of being involved with the sand mafia.
Though the police officer was subsequently transferred after the TV channel aired an audio conversation involving him, the journalist came under the wheels of the truck.
The national media had been outraged as the truck appears to have deliberately targeted the journo.
Police meanwhile have identified the driver as one Ranbir Yadav, a resident of Gadu Pura village.
In his statement, the driver has told the police that he was trying to save a woman and the worst thing happened to the journo.
The police have formed a Special Investigation Team to look into the journalist’s death.
Even Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has promised to take strict action against those responsible.
Opposition leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, of Congress, has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into Sharma’s death.>
