Policeman missing with service rifle in Kashmir; search on

was posted in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir

A policeman is missing with rifle with suspicion now growing that he may have deserted the force to join in the ultras.

He was posted in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The rifle, sources said, was his AK-47 service rifle.

Identified as constable Tariq Ahmad Bhat, he was posted at a police post Pakherpora in Budgam district.

It is said that he has not reported for work since yesterday.

Police sources said that Bhat’s service rifle and some ammunition were also missing from the police post.

Efforts are on to trace the policeman who is so far being treated as a “missing” case.

It is only recently that an army man deserted the force in Shopian district earlier this month and later joined militant ranks.
