Political opposition to ‘municipal’ action against Pandri cloth market shops

Strong reactions emerged from both political parties

Strong reactions emerged from both political parties as municipal officials reached the Pandri cloth market to seal over three dozen shops. Both BJP and Congress leaders along with Chamber of Commerce representatives objected to the action and urged the municipal officials to refrain from punitive action that would deprive the businesses from operating altogether especially in this peak festive season. BJP legislator Srichand Sundarani and Congress leader Kuldip Juneja along with Kanhaiya Agrawal objected to the municipal officials’ action. Kanhaiya Agrawal mentioned how businessmen have somehow managed to continue keeping their business up and running despite so many hurdles put up by the government. He said that demonetization and imposition of GST have hurt the businesses.
