Politics picks up in Bihar’s shelter home rape case

Police is trying to probe the allegation that at least one of the girl was beaten to death and buried there.

Police is now making efforts to dig the grounds at a government shelter home in Muzzafarpur in Bihar, where over 40 young girls were allegedly raped.

Meanwhile, the medical reports of the girls examined reveal that at least 16 of them have been sexually exploited.

The shelter has now been shut.

The state government is under pressure to act decisively in the case especially as the rival party leader Tejashwi Yadav has been
raking up the issue.

After a medical examination confirmed the rape of 16 girls, most of the accused were arrested by the police last month.

The incident came to light after Tata Institute of Social Sciences carried out a study and filed it based on conversations with several girls who alleged sexual assault.

A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed and police have arrested 10 persons in connection with the Muzaffarpur stay at home case.
